AFTER A WHILE OF FLAWLESS FUNCTION THE POWER.XT RATCHET DOESN'T RELEASE ANYMORE ►VIDEOUpdated a year ago

Over 9 years of experience with the majority of PWA riders, selected premium centers and countless end consumers around the world have proven that version 2.0 is bombproof and works flawless in all kind of conditions and with any type of sail out there.

The only thing we occasionally hear is that after a couple of seasons sometimes the ratchet doesn't release anymore. For the ratchet to work the small pin at the bottom of the white ratchet lever needs to spring back towards the bottom end of the slot.
As soon as the pin looses its springiness the ratchet refuses to release.

Experience has shown that there are 2 reasons for the pin to loose its springiness:

  1. You think you need to push the lever as hard as you can to release the tension whereas in fact it's not much power necessary to release the ratchet.

  2. In case the ratchet doesn't receive any "care" from you (see under maintance) over time salt and sand increase the friction of the system up to a point that you need to push super hard with the lever for the ratchet to work.

Fortunately there's a very simple solution to get your POWER.XT 2.0 back up and running within 5 minutes by replacing the ratchet lever (get the spare part here)

  • Use 2 allen keys (size 5) to remove the RIGHT-hand side screw of the axle bolt.
  • CAREFULLY slide the axle bolt towards the left-hand side but just far enough to get the lever off the axle bolt (attention: do NOT slide the axle bolt any further so that the ratchet wheel falls out!).
  • Now slide the new lever in, push the axle bolt back in place and secure it with the screws again.
